The Tequila sunrise is a fairly infamous cocktail, originally created by Gene Sulit and first served at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel around the 1930s’s. The original recipe is made up of Tequila, Creme de Cassis, lime juice and soda. The more popular version of the cocktail now consists of Tequila, Grenadine syrup and orange juice.
When you’re trying to impress, the Kir Royale is an elegant cocktail with a touch of class. The two main ingredients are Champagne and Chambord, and the drink is garnished with a black raspberry and lemon twist.
The Long Island Iced Tea is a strong cocktail with a high concentration of alcohol compared to most highball drinks due to the relatively small amount of mixer. The most popular cocktail made of Champagne or Prosecco is the Bellini. Originating from Venice in Italy, it consists of Champagne and a peach juice or puree. The name Bellini comes from its unique pink colour, which reminded the inventor, Giuseppe Cipriani, of the toga of a saint in a 15th Century painting by Giovanni Bellini. It is another classy and refreshing cocktail.
The Cosmopolitan hit an all time high with popularity thanks to the popular TV show Sex and the City. The drink consists of Vodka, Triple Sec, cranberry Juice and lime juice. It is famously served with either a thin slide of lime on the rim of the glass, or a twist of lemon.
The number one most popular cocktail from around the world is the Mojito! This refreshing cocktail consists of white Rum, cane sugar, lime juice, soda water, mint and ice. The original Cuban recipe used Yerba Buena, which was a popular variety of mint found on the island. The cocktail combines sweetness, citrus and mint to compliment the rum making this classic highball cocktail a summer favourite.
