Christmas time is a time for friends and family, appreciating the past year, looking forward to the next, and what better way of doing it with a Christmassy cocktail in your hand and good company.
At Cocktail stars we have put together some of our favourite Christmas Cocktails, the classics from the past, the present favourites and of course future tipples.
Cocktails of Christmas Past
This spirits of Christmas past are those classic cocktails and tipples we all know and love and associate with Christmas.
Christmas isn’t Christmas without a glass of mulled wine, the scent is so synonymous with Christmas that candle manufacturers have made a fortune from it. The best thing about mulled wine is it is warming, the spices invigorate the red wine and you can warm your hands round the glass and feel the lovely warmth on a cold Christmas evening.
Egg nog is a thick and creamy classic, kids can enjoy helping you make it but with a generous shot of whiskey it is strictly a drink for adults, although non alcoholic recipes are available. Best to me made in bulk and drunk quickly as it has a lovely whipped texture when first made that settles after a while.
Cocktails of Christmas Present
Christmas present is what you make of it, a classic cocktail given a Christmassy twist are the favourites this year, ideal for Christmas parties and celebrating the season.
The cosmopolitan is a big favourite with many of our clients, made infamous by sex in the city, and enjoyed across the world. This classic is given a festive twist with the infusion of ginger. The cranberry in the classic recipe enhances this festive flavour for a delicious and sexy cocktail.
You don’t have to be an Angel to deserve this cocktail, the decadence of the season is mirrored in the rich ingredients in this cocktail. Tia Maria, double cream and a dusting of coco this drink is more like a dessert and just as delicious. Treat yourself this Christmas with this not so angelic cocktail.
Cocktails of Christmas Future
Unlike Charles Dickens’ character, our spirits of Christmas future are not haunting but inspiring. Look forward to the year ahead and toast to your future with these sparkling Christmas cocktails.
Pear and Cranberry Bellini
Normally made with Prosecco or Cava but can be substituted for Champagne, the Bellini is a quick and easy cocktail. The Pear and Cranberry Bellini has a delicate but fruity flavour that doesn’t detract too much from the fizz of the alcohol.
Bellini’s a re a popular cocktail and so easy any one can make them in no time at all. Cranberry has a typical association with Christmas and the tart flavour is sweetened by the pear.
Blood Orange Champagne Cocktail
For a special occasion, you need a special drink, and blood orange juice gives that added upgrade to the traditional Mimosa. The typical Mimosa can be enjoyed all year round, however at Christmas you are more likely to indulge in a treat like a Champagne cocktail so why not make it extra special with blood orange juice.
